Kentucky bluegrass band in town

UNIQUE home venue The Red Room in Cookstown will host the Berea Bluegrass Allstars this Wednesday.

The seven-piece band hail from Berea, in Eastern Kentucky. Berea’s history as an educational, social and cultural centre for Appalachia goes back over 150 years.

Six of the band are past students of the Berea College where they studied bluegrass music under Al white, who is also a member of the band.

The Allstars, have been described as “a vocal powerhouse” consist of Al White (fiddle/mandolin/vocals), Donovan Cain (guitar/vocals), Deborah Payne (fiddle/vocals), Ryan Blevins (banjo/mandolin/vocals), Kate Morgan (guitar/vocals), Ashley long(vocals) and John Bradley(bass).
