A woman in her fifties was robbed at knifepoint in her Ballyronan home on Tuesday.

Police say that two men who claimed their van had broken down, called at her door for assistance.

One of the men had a knife and the woman was ordered to sit down while they searched through the house

“At about 11am, two men in a small blue van called at the house, which is on the road between Ballyronan and Toome,” said Sergeant Sam Young said.

“They said that the van had broken down and asked if someone could help push it. When the householder said there was no one else there, they pushed past her and into the house.

“One of the men had a knife and the woman was ordered to sit down while they searched through the house.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw the van in the area. We are also keen to establish if it called at any other homes in the vicinity on Tuesday morning.”

Cash and jewellery were stolen.

The number to call with any information is 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
