“Lisburn City Council is always keen to assist to ensure the safety of its residents and their families when around water, which can present dangers to individuals if they are not careful, and the Lifesaving School is part of this.

“The scheme being taught was developed by the Royal Lifesaving Society and there are three stages: Bronze, Silver and Gold, each of which has four programmes within.

“It is great that a large number of local children have successfully completed an award this year and in previous years.”

The Lifesaving School candidates develop their personal fitness, knowledge, skill and judgment about various different lifesaving techniques when undertaking their Award.
