In fact, Richard Kane, an arable farmer near Limavady has already featured in the first episode - screened on Monday, January 13 - waiting for the torrential rain to stop so he can begin sowing for rapeseed.

Dungiven potato farmers Brian and James McCartne are set to make their TV debuts on February 3 as the 12-part series looks at life for Ulster farmers in April.

The Kane’s near Limavady are to feature again first, though, when the episode to screen next Monday (January 20) shows how they’re not just growing rapeseed but are now processing it as cooking oil as the UTV show looks at life for Northern Ireland farmers in the month of February. The next episode, to be shown on January 27, looks at the month of March with not so good news for Richard Kane. The wet and cold weather means his rapeseed crop is behind schedule - but much worse is to come as the arctic weather cripples much of the country. February 3’s episode, looking at the month of April, will see the McCartney’s near Dungiven make their first appearance.
