Londonderry neglected by TV broadcasters

A NEW report by the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee at Westminster has concluded that Londonderry along with the rest of the province is "culturally neglected" by TV broadcasters.

Commenting on the publication that Northern Ireland is "culturally neglected" by television broadcasting organisations the Foyle MP Mark Durkan said: "This shows the desirability of using the cultural talent and infrastructure in the Derry area not only to meet regional demands but to increase commissions for BBC and Channel 4 network TV and for international consumption.

"This is a matter I discussed with the Controller of BBC Northern Ireland last Friday when I met with him to discuss cuts to Radio Foyle's programmes and staff.
