Maghera robbery gang armed with gun and knife


A MAN was tied up during a robbery by a gang armed with a handgun and knife on Wednesday night,

Police say a number of males, one thought to be armed with a handgun and a knife, entered a house at around 8.45pm and tied up the 47-year-old male occupant. A second 51-year-old male arrived at the house a short time later and he too was tied up.

“The robbers took a sum of money from a safe and personal items including laptops and watches,” said a police spokesperson.

They made off in the occupants’ car, a black Mercedes. The car was discovered this morning in Brough Road, Castledawson.

“The occupants received minor wrist injuries and were treated for shock at the scene.
