A pipe fitter spotted by police “messing about” with a friend after his works Christmas party, was fined £215 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.
Dominic James Crozier (24), of Greenvale Park, Magherafelt, admitted disorderly behaviour at Rainey Street car park on December 13 last year.
A prosecuting barrister said two males were having a verbal disagreement in front of police and the defendant assured them they were friends.
However, when police moved away, the defendant pulled the male to the ground and the victim cut his eyebrow.
The prosecutor said Crozier claimed it was just a bit of messing about with a friend. He said the male told police he did not want to make a complaint.
A defence solicitor explained that the men knew each other from football and there was no malice involved.
