WELFARE reforms, bedroom tax and social housing will top the agenda at a public meeting in Magherafelt next week.
SDLP assembly member Patsy McGlone who is hosting the meeting - on Thursday, November 21 at 7.30pm in the Bridewell Centre - said representatives from the Housing Executive and NI Federation of housing associations will be present to address the concerns of Mid Ulster residents.
“After the intervention of Mike Penning MP earlier this week, people are more concerned than ever about the impact of welfare reform and the bedroom tax,” said Mr McGlone.
“Furthermore, figures released today [Friday] that show a 20% increase in repossession orders will be distressing news to families struggling to make ends meet in Mid Ulster.
“It is important that we give everyone the opportunity to put their concerns to elected politicians and housing experts.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in or concern about any housing issue in Mid Ulster to come along and take part on the night,” the Mid Ulster MLA added.
