THE Prison Service flogged 10 vans, minibuses and forklifts and a couple of lawnmowers that were formerly used at Magilligan jail over the past two years but raised just £11k from the sales, the Sentinel can reveal.

Justice Minister David Ford outlined the disposals at Stormont. The total amount raised from the Magilligan fire sale was £11,088.13.

Mr Ford stated: “The Department of Justice (DOJ) has disposed of items at auctions within the 2010/11 and 2011/12 financial year. The DOJ has taken receipt of £837,619.00 and £218,090.10 respectively.”
