Contractors broke ground on the major improvement works in Cookstown on Monday.

The public realm scheme will bring new paving, lighting, street furniture, signage and planting to the town centre.

Funded through the Department for Social Development (DSD) and Mid Ulster District Council, work begins at opposite ends of the town, starting in Loy Street moving northbound and in Oldtown Street moving southbound.

The contractor, FP McCann, has established a site office at 47a James Street (above Boots) and the 24hr site contact number is 028 7954 9090 (option 4).

Queries can also be emailed to cpr@fpmccann.co.uk and details about the works can be found at www.midulstercouncil.org/cookstownpublicrealm.
