A man has been charged in connection with one of the burglaries in Moneymore, Mid Ulster MLA Ian McCrea has said.
“We are all fully aware that over the past number of months Moneymore has been blighted by criminality in the shape of domestic and commercial burglaries,” said the DUP man.
“This prompted me to meet and speak with police and council officers many times, which resulted in the widely welcomed installation of redeployable CCTV and a heavier police presence.
“I have recently been advised that these measures are bearing fruit in the form of an arrest over the Easter period of a male who has been charged on one count of burglary.
“If proven guilty I trust our judicial system will not be found wanting and show the community that those who are victimising the people and businesses of Moneymore will face the full weight of the law.”
