A man who head-butted a Boxing Challenge gaming machine in a Magherafelt nightclub, has been placed on probation for 12 months.

Before the local Magistrates Court was 22-year-old Gary Adam McCullough from Moat Road, Ballymena, who admitted a charge of criminal damage.

McCullough was also ordered to make £325 restitution in respect of the damage to the machine, belonging to Mr Henry McGlone.

The court heard the case had been adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

A prosecuting lawyer said the incident happened on March 14 and that defendant was detained by the nightclub’s door staff.

A defence lawyer said McCullough had issues with alcohol abuse.

Placing defendant on probation, District Judge Alan White ordered him to participate in the substances aware programme.
