Man suffers head and facial injuries in daylight attack in Maghera

Police are appealing for information after a 40-year-old man sustained facial and head injuries in a daylight attack near Maghera Leisure Centre.

The incident, which was reported to have occurred on the Coleraine Road, near the entrance to the leisure centre’s car park, took place sometime between 5.30 and 6pm on Sunday, September 4.

Magherafelt PSNI posted online: “We’re investigating a report of an assault which happened on the Coleraine Road, Maghera. Can you help with our enquiries? It was reported that a male was assaulted near to the entrance of a leisure centre car park.

“He sustained facial and head injuries sometime between 5.30pm and 6pm, on September 4. If you saw anything or can help please call the 101 number quoting reference number 1158 of 4/9/16.”

NIAS paramedics treated the man at the scene.
