Man warned to change his ways or face jail

A COLERAINE man has been warned that he could face prison unless changes his ways.

Ron Boreland (39) of Rugby Road appeared at North Antrim Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday charged with being in breach of a non-molestation order and harassment towards his former partner.

The court heard between December 7 and 19 last year the defendant’s former partner received a number of nuisance calls.

An investigation was launched to find the origin of the calls and it was revealed that the phone was registered at the defendant’s home.

Boreland was subsequently arrested but he refused to comment on the allegations.

Further evidence was provided by British Telecom and the Boreland was charged with the offences.

Defence said Boreland could not remember making the calls but he accepted that he would have been phoning at that time to ask what his children wanted for Christmas.

It was said that the defendant is finding it hard not to be in regular contact with his three children.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, sentenced Boreland to three months in prison on each charge, suspended for two years, and fined him 300.

Mr Wilson warned the defendant that there would only be one outcome if he does not change his ways.
