Magherafelt bar managers Thomas Doherty and Nathan Evans have been shortlisted in the Annual Janus Awards for professionalism.
Thomas Doherty from Mary’s Bar was delighted when he received the news that he had been shortlisted for Bar Manager of the Year.
He said: “I am honoured to be amongst the finalists for this award, the hospitality industry in N. Ireland is fantastic and is always evolving.
“To be shortlisted amongst my fellow bar managers is great and I am really looking forward to us all having a rare night off together.”
Thomas has over 18 years experience in the hospitality industry, staring out as a glass collector in Dormans Bar.
He has been the General Manager in Mary’s Bar since it opened in 2008 following a renovation by proprietors Henry and Teresa Mc Glone.
Under Thomas’ management the establishment has won many awards and accolades, most recently Best Gastro Pub in Derry 2014.
Nathan Evans from Secrets Nightclub has been shortlisted for the Late Night Venue Manager of the Year.
“I am ecstatic to be shortlisted for the award,” he said, “I am passionate about the industry and using my mixology knowledge and managerial skills I am excited bout the future too and wish everyone good luck for the final”.
Proprietor of both venues Henry Mc Glone has said he is immensely proud of his team being shortlisted for the awards.
“We have a great team in Mary’s Bar and Secrets Nightclub under the guidance of Nathan and Thomas, I am exceptionally proud of their recognition thus far and wish them good luck for Friday night.”
