At last Monday night’s March meeting of Council, she commended and highlighted:

Stephen Burns, a village attendant in Portglenone within Council’s Operational Services Department, on being a finalist in the Employee of the Year categroy at this year’s NI Local Government Awards.

Local kickboxers, Angela Swan and Robbie Wilson, on being awarded World Kickboxing Championship titles for Northern Ireland.

Local golfer Dermot McElroy on finishing joint second in the recent South African Stroke Play Golf Tournament.

Ballymena Festival of Music, Speech & Dance Committee for their continued devotion and hard work in “providing so many opportunities for young artists and performers from all over our province”.

Ballymena’s McDonald’s Franchisee, Des Lamph, and his staff on attaining a silver award for their positive impact on the environment following an independent assessment by TIDY NI for the Green Growing Awards.

Bannside Pharmacy in Portglenone on winning three awards in the recent ‘Pharmacy in Focus’ Awards - Pharmacy of the Year, Community Pharmacy Service Initiative of the Year and Pharmacy Assistant of the Year (Shauna Hagan).

The Cedar Foundation on winning the European Foundation for Quality Management Ireland Excellence Award.

Carniny Primary School principal Raymond Ross and his staff on receiving the European Foundation for Quality Management Ireland Excellence ‘Four Star’ Award.

Ballymena Academy students, Paul Gordon and Craig Hanna on gaining the highest grades in GCSE’s for Construction and Built Environment and subsequently awarded first and second place, respectively, by CITB at the annual Chartered Institute of Building Awards for their high achievements; and,

Local QUB student Chantelle Frampton on being recognised with a Halifax Giving Extra Award for her fundraising and volunteering work at Castle Tower School and at an orphanage in Morocco.
