POLICING Board Member and DUP MLA Ian McCrea has condemned the gang accountable for the armed robbery of a property in Maghera on Wednesday night and has branded the gang as cowards.
Speaking out today, Ian McCrea said: “I was saddened to hear that another robbery had taken place on Wednesday night of a private property in Maghera, were two men were tied up by a gang wielding a knife and gun and I utterly condemn the cowards that carried it out.
“The gang made off with the homeowners car, a black Mercedes, along with a sum of money, laptops and watches.
Thankfully, the men were relatively unharmed but I can imagine they are extremely shook up by the whole ordeal.
“The black Mercedes was found abandoned on Thursday morning on the Brough Road, Castledawson and police are keen for anyone who witnessed this car in Maghera/Castledawson to come forward and I would echo that plea. It is extremely important that witnesses come forward, because without the public’s help such cowards will continue to roam our streets.”
