A DUP MLA accused the previous health minister Michael McGimpsey of ‘stalling’ and applauded the current minister for swiftly approving the new training college at Cookstown.
Councillor McCrea said the DUP had been at the forefront of maintaining the momentum in the drive to secure a new training college at Desertcreat.
And he welcomed the swift approval of the business case by the Finance Minister, Sammy Wilson, for the new Training College in Desertcreat.
He said: “The approval of the business case for the new Police Training College, which is to be built in the heart of Mid Ulster, is most welcome.
“This will provide jobs, investment and a much needed cash injection into the local economy.
“It will secure state of the art training facilities for our heroes. Once the planning issues have been negotiated, we look forward to the construction work commencing and bringing a much needed boost to our construction industry.” the DUP MLA said.
