‘It is recommended that given present circumstances (RPA, budget etc) that Council ought to continue for 2010 with the installation contractor previously used, who has indicated that his price in respect of the cost of the erection of the Council’s lighting scheme would be the same as for 2009.’

In response to a query from Cllr John Finlay as to who had responsibility for the Christmas Lights Switch-on, the Director clarified that the budget within the Amenities remit simply related to the installation.

Alderman Frank Campbell advised that the Chamber of Commerce looked after the entertainment.

After a discussion members agreed that it would be productive this year to have a meeting arranged between all those associated with the Christmas Lights Switch-on, so that various issues could be discussed.
