Melinda Messenger sends an urgent SOS for Barnardo’s

TV presenter and charity shop aficionado Melinda Messenger, has issued an urgent SOS, asking for donations to Barnardo’s store in Ballymoney – as part of the children’s charity’s ‘Stock Our Stores ’ appeal which is running throughout April.

Barnardo’s ambassador, Melinda, explains ‘I’m a big fan of charity shops and love to trawl through my local Barnardo’s store.  I love picking up one-of-a-kind vintage clothes and pieces with an antique feel for my home’

‘However as much as I love sourcing new finds, I’m a stickler for making sure that I also recycle my unwanted stuff and donate back to charity. This is why I’m supporting the SOS appeal, as the more the public donates, the more vulnerable children Barnardo’s can help.

Barnardo’s is asking every Ballymena household to donate at least one bag of unwanted, good quality clothing to the Barnardo’s store at Main Street, Ballymoney in April. Melinda has already donated her SOS bag, full of fantastic booty including children’s clothes, shoes and books.

Barnardo’s NI Head of Retail, Diane Winter said: ‘We’re delighted that Melinda Messenger is kicking-off our SOS appeal. If just a third of the total number of households in Northern Ireland donated one bag of clothes with a value of £15 we would be able to raise somewhere in the region of £3 million to help us help some of the most vulnerable children in our local communities.”

Barnardo’s SOS appeal for stock will run throughout April.
