AN APPEAL fund set up to cover the cost of legal fees incurred by the family of suspected drug mule Michaella McCollum Connolly has only attracted around £500 in donations.
The family who launched the appeal recently are hoping to raise around £20,000 to pay for the massive legal bill which they will face.
Michaella from Dungannon and her co-accused Melissa Reid from Lenzie, near Glasgow, are currently being held in Lima’s notorious Virgen de Fatima prison where they are awaiting trial.
The pair were caught with round £1.5m worth of cocaine in their luggage at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport on August 5.
Michaella is represented by Peter Madden from Madden and Finucane international law firm.
