THE Mid-Ulster DUP branch held there annual dinner on Friday, March 22nd at the Royal Hotel in Cookstown.
Speaking today Press Officer, Ian McCrea said: “The DUP Mid Ulster branch held its annual dinner on Friday night and was delighted to have DETI Minister, Arlene Foster MLA as there special guest, along with some of our MP’s, MLA’s and Councillors from across Northern Ireland.
“The branch was especially delighted to see local people attending and more importantly the number of young people who came along. This is further evidence of our ability to attract and appeal to people of all ages.
“After the dinner Dr William McCrea MP spoke of the need to encourage our electorate to continue in their support for the DUP and the importance to encourage those who don’t vote for whatever reason that they should be voting DUP – The Party for Northern Ireland.
“Following Dr McCrea, guest speaker Arlene Foster MLA spoke to us of the leadership the DUP are giving and whilst other highlight issues that maybe controversial, this is the party that takes action to stop them i.e. the RUC Athletic Association.
“Arlene also spoke of the importance that 2012 will be to Northern Ireland with events such as the Diamond Jubilee, signing of the Ulster Covenant, Titanic centenary and the opening of the Titanic Quarter.”
“She also echoed Dr McCrea’s remarks that even though we are the largest party, we must not be complacent and that the DUP must not rest on its laurels and continue to remain the only party for the people, working for the people.”
“All in all it was a great night and we look forward to the next DUP event and thank everyone for their continued support,” he said.
