Gavin Twamley, local sales representative from firmus energy, commented: “We are out and about in communities across Northern Ireland each and every day and regularly meet and hear about people who go above and beyond to help others.

“These are the ‘shining stars’ we want to highlight through this competition.

“We have more than 66,000 customers across Northern Ireland and know that so many of them give up their time and energy to benefit others and that is why supporting a competition such as this is important to firmus energy.

“We wholeheartedly appreciate that so much good work is being done within communities on an individual level and it is those people whom we hope will be nominated for the ‘Person To Be Proud Of’ competition.”

William Allen , from Johnston Press said there was a rich field of potential candidates.

“We have some exceptional people across Mid Ulster, who deserve to be recognised for the work and dedication they show in a professional, social and personal capacity,” he said.

“This a fantastic opportunity to honour an individual for being who they are, and we are proud to launch the search for ‘Person to the Proud Of’ with firmus energy.”

Further details about the competition can be found in this week’s edition of the paper or online at www.midulstermail.co.uk.

Gavin concluded: “We try to create opportunities to acknowledge those that go above and beyond what is expected of them. We also know that there are thousands of unsung heroes across Northern Ireland for whom helping others is a way of life.

“This competition aims to recognise just some of those individuals and highlight how their selfless actions benefit other local people.
