Minister says A5 public inquiry will get underway in May or June

ROADS Minister Conor Murphy anticipates a public inquiry into the A5 Londonderry to Aughnacloy roads project will be held in May/June this year.

He advised of the anticipated inquiry in response to an Assembly Question.

He explained: “My Department’s Roads Service has advised that the Full Economic Appraisal for the A5 Western Transport Corridor will be finalised once the details of the scheme have been confirmed, following the consideration of issues arising from the Public Inquiry, which I anticipate will be held in May/June this year.

“I can advise that the Preliminary Option and Preferred Option Reports have been produced as part of the scheme development process.

“These reports set out the economic position at each of these key decision points.

“At the Preferred Option Stage, the ratio of benefits to costs was 1.74,” concluded the Minister in his response.
