ONE of the most glamorous gatherings Cookstown has ever seen took place at Sense Nightclub this week for the local heat of the 2013 Open + Direct Miss Northern Ireland contest.
Contestants from all over the country made their first steps towards earning a place at the Miss Northern Ireland final by impressing the judges which included Daniel Gillespie from the Cookstown office of title sponsors Open + Direct.
This year Cookstown was celebrating a Tyrone double-whammy as students Courtney Murray (18) from Dungannon won the coveted title of Miss Cookstown and Andreia Costa (17) from Cookstown, was chosen as Miss Sense.
Both will go forward to the grand final in Belfast’s Europa Hotel in May and stand a chance of winning the coveted title of Open + Direct Miss Northern Ireland 2013.
Competition organiser Alison Clarke said: “We had such a fantastic night at Sense Nightclub again this year, the standard of the entrants for this heat seems to get better every year.”
Guest judge, Daniel Gillespie from Open + Direct, Cookstown added: “Courtney and Andreia both stood out not just because of their beauty but because they allowed their personality to really shine through.
“That’s what the Open + Direct judges at every heat will be looking for – the perfect mix of intelligence, friendliness and ambition which marks a true Miss Northern Ireland champion.”
This year’s winner will not only take on the coveted title of Open + Direct Miss Northern Ireland 2013, and an all expenses paid trip to Miss World in Indonesia, she will also win a Kia car from Downey’s, taxed and insured for a year by Open + Direct, as well as a host of other glamorous fashion, beauty and fitness prizes.
Last year’s winner, Tiffany Brien said of her Miss Northern Ireland experience last year: “I can honestly say my year as Miss Northern Ireland has been a whirlwind so far and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who made it happen, from event organiser Alison Clarke and title sponsors Open + Direct, to fashion sponsors ‘The Outlet.’ It’s an experience I wouldn’t have missed and for any girls out there thinking about entering, there’s still time to sign up for one of your local heats!”
Title sponsor Open + Direct will also be supporting the Miss Northern Ireland 2013 contest with a number of “glamorous giveaways” - throughout the duration of the competition the insurance company’s Facebook fans can enter a draw to win a host of fabulous prizes such as dinner for two at Horatio Todd’s, Belfast or an exciting clay pigeon shooting experience from Field of Dreams, Bangor.
