The reason behind an extensive police operation in Coalisland on Sunday afternoon remains unclear as police have said it would be ‘inappropriate to comment’.
The activity, which members of the public said involved two police helicopters and around eight police cars, is believed to have kicked off around 12.30pm and continued for about two hours.
One resident told the Times: “There were police everywhere - all over the town.
“Some were at Lineside, two car loads. “Some at Platers Hill and some on Main Street.
“There was two helicopters as well.”
The Times asked police what the action about, but they would not reveal any details.
Inspector Rod Flood said: “Police were responding to information from a member of the public. It would be inappropriate to comment any further.”
