Mystery surrounds the downing of Magherafelt’s Christmas tree in the Diamond.
The tree, which is due to be switched on later this month, came tumbling down sometime on Sunday night.
It is unclear whether strong winds were responsible or vandals as the tree has been attacked in previous years.
Warning cones have been placed at the base of the tree.
The Christmas tree, which has yet to be decorated, is due to be switched on November 28 during an evening of festive fun in the town centre.
