THE feathered hero of a hugely successful children’s book - written by Castlecaulfield lady Jean Kelly - is certainly not resting on his laurels as he undertakes a new adventure in the latest instalment of the title.
Charlie Crow Sorts It tells the tale of a brave little bird whose efforts to resolve the ‘conflict’ between the grey and red squirrels at his home, Parkanaur Forest, have been hailed by his many woodland neighbours.
A ‘postcrow’ by trade, Charlie Crow collects and delivers letters from and to the entire forest residents.
He has also launched his own ‘Plan for All’, which brings the members of the woodland community together to create a better world for everyone, although Rory Robin remains sceptical.
Lily Grey Squirrel disagrees with Rory, though, stating firmly:
“Charlie is a crow in a million, he managed to bring us all together as a community and made us see that by respecting and helping each other we would all be winners. He’s certainly my hero!”
The colourful antics of Charlie Crow have been enjoyed by children in nearly 170 schools throughout Northern Ireland, and Charlie is hoping his young fans will drop him a letter to say why they think he is a hero.
His contact details can be found on his website, www.postcrow.com
Charlie is also hoping parents, grandparents, teachers and librarians will visit his Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fizzlemefeathers
Watch out in the Tyrone Times and Mid Ulster Mail for details of Charlie’s next adventure, which is being kept strictly under wraps for now!
