New minister installed at Brigh, Albany and Stewartstown

THE congregations of the Presbyterian churches of Albany, Brigh and 1st Stewartstown were joined by friends, guests and well-wishers as they united for the ordination and installation of their new minister, Rev Ivan Ferris.

The Service was held in 1st Stewartstown church which was completely filled for the occasion. The Presbytery Commission assembled under the Moderator, Rev G Stewart who called the congregation to worship.

Music was lead by organist Mrs Annie Purdy, pianist Mrs Susan Stewart and the praise group, Jubilate under Mrs Alison Millar, with special music by the choir.

The sermon was by Rev M Lindsay and after the act of ordination and installation; the charge to the new minister was given by Rev W Hamilton.

After the Service Mr Ferris was welcomed to the area by the Clerks of Session, Mrs Carol Maneely (Albany), Mr Robert Kee (Brigh) and Mr Miller Glendinning (1st Stewartstown) and also Rev I Neish (Abbot’s Cross) and Rev W Hamilton (former convenor).

Following the service an excellent supper was served in the McNeece Memorial Hall by the ladies of the three congregations giving everyone the opportunity to meet and chat to Mr Ferris, his wife Heather and daughters Erin and Hilary completing a most pleasant and significant night for all concerned.
