New-style waste bin damaged
A former mayor of Carrick has appealed for no further vandalism to waste bins in the Elizabeth Avenue area.
Alderman Jim Brown made the plea after one of the new-design units, which can be used for dog waste, was damaged earlier this month and had to be replaced.
Mr Brown said the bin was there to encourage people to clean up after their dogs and its absence may deter them from being responsible pet owners.
He claimed: “If people don’t see a bin for the dog waste the likelihood is it’s going to lie in the street.”
