NI Water updates councillors
on ‘Beat the Freeze’ campaign

NI Water recently updated Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council on local investment and its ‘Beat the Freeze’ campaign, encouraging customers to protect water pipes ahead of any severe winter weather.

Grahame Millar, NI Water’s Head of Wastewater Networks Capital Delivery, said: “This session is part of a wider engagement process undertaken by NI Water in relation to the new local authorities, and we are planning meetings with the other local councils in the coming weeks and months.

“During the 2010/11 freeze/thaw incident, approximately 80% of burst water leakage could have been avoided if customer pipes had been properly lagged.

“NI Water urges all our customers to ‘Beat the Freeze’ by acting now ahead of winter weather conditions and avoid the misery of burst pipes.”
