NV and Gino closing down

There was more bad news for Ballymena’s retail sector with the announcement that two clothes shops are closing with the loss of 17 jobs.

NV and Gino menswear are set to close their doors on Saturday with full time and part time staff now facing unemployment.

Both premises are located on Bryan Street and each store is currently holding closing down sales.

A member of staff told the Ballymena Times that they had been given the news as recently as Tuesday.

The chain has a number of stores across Northern Ireland, including Belfast, and it is understood that they are to remain open for business.

With this news coming so soon after Christmas it is a huge blow for trade in the town.

Ballymena Town Centre Development LTD said they are sorry to see that another retailer is closing and this is not a just a local problem but regional and national.

A spokesperson for the group said: “It is a hard time for any trader at the moment and unfortunately this has happened to an area of the town centre where this company owned two premises and undoubtedly they will be missed by shoppers and traders alike.”
