NW200 charity boost for Davy

COLERAINE’S “Caring Caretaker”, Davy Boyle and the 2011 Relentless International North West 200 ‘Charity of the Year’, raised a total of £15,000 on behalf of Davy’s nominated charities during NW200 Race Week in May.

Davy works tirelessly on behalf of groups such as Autism Society NI, NI Chest Heart & Stroke Association, Ulster Cancer Foundation, Motor Neuron Disease, Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Age NI, Parkinson’s Disease Society, Zest and the Samaritans.

He said: “I’m delighted with the amount we’ve raised and want to thank not only all those people who helped, but also Coleraine and District Motor Club for the opportunity of being the NW200’s charity partner.”

This brings the total raised by the Caring Caretaker this year alone to £23,000 and Davy is well on the way to reaching his target of £50,000.

Davy and his supporters organised a series of quirky events such as ‘Jail & Bail’ as well as more mainstream initiatives including golf tournaments, concerts, sponsored diets and walks.

Each year Davy supports a range of charities and since starting his charity work back in the 1990’s has raised almost £300,000 and was awarded an MBE in the 2006 New Year’s Honours List for his outstanding charity work.

Coleraine and District Motor Club would like to thank Davy for all his hard work and wish him every success with his future charity work.
