OOH LA LA, the French are
coming! Well group of 44 primary school children from Britanny are to jet in to Cookstown.
Cookstown Twinning Committee recently hosted a visit from a small delegation from Plerin sur Mer, Britanny here to make plans for a group of children and seven adults who are expected to arrive in Cookstown from 23rd to 28th April 2012.
School exchanges and education projects have been an ongoing feature of the Twinning partnership between Cookstown and Plerin for a number of years, and these visits remain among the most successful and beneficial ventures undertaken through the Town Twinning initiative.
In May 2011 pupils from Cookstown Primary and Holy Trinity Primary Schools enjoyed an educational trip to Plerin, and April 2012 marks the return visit.
The recent planning visit allowed the principals from Port Horel and Sepulcre schools in Plerin to visit the Cookstown schools, tour the premises, meet the staff and pupils and so plan joint activities for the forthcoming visit.
Cookstown Twinning Committee is grateful to the principals and all involved in making the French guests so welcome and for taking the time to show them the impressive facilities and teaching methods we use in our schools here.
