COOKSTOWN woman Amanda Weir said she is delighted at having raised over £4000 for the NI Children’s Cancer Unit.
Amanda from Orritor Road underwent a bone marrow transplant when she was a child after her sister Pamela donated bone marrow and 25 years later, she made a vow to repeat the success of her family’s original fundraising initiative.
The coffee evening and craft sale at the Royal Hotel in Cookstown last Thursday night was particularly poignant as the now retired medical professional who oversaw the transplant, Dr Frank Jones, attended. The current total stands at £4106 and Amanda said she also wanted to thank local businesses, some of which made cash donations to the fund.
