Ulster Unionist Assembly Member for Mid-Ulster, Sandra Overend, has condemned an incident where an item – suspected to have been an unignited petrol bomb – was thrown at a car in the Riverside Gardens area in Castledawson.
“I utterly condemn the attack on a car which took place in the Riverside Gardens area in Castledawson, in which a windscreen of a vehicle was damaged,” she said.
“It is suspected that an unignited petrol bomb was involved, and while PSNI officers are still trying to establish a motive, it is important to note that any such attack is absolutely unjustified, and unjustifiable.
“Attacks such as this puts lives at risk. They have the potential to cause serious injury and even death. It is therefore important that anyone with information about the incident should contact PSNI on 101 at the earliest opportunity.”
