A Lurgan icon, the funeral of Mickey McConaghy takes places this morning
Well known as a Clan na Gael man and a Manchester United supporter, Mickey was a popular and interesting character in the town.
The son of Gerry and Sheila McConaghy, Michael was born in Cherry Tree Walk on December 1954, the youngest of five children.
He was an intelligent man who worked hard all his life.

Hide AdA devoted husband to his wife Marian and father to Aisling, Orla, Ciara, Gary, Conal, Ronan and Conor, Mickey was very much a family man.
He adored his grandchildren Laila, Beth, Aoibhe, Joseph, Charlie, Emily and Jude.
His knowledge of football was unsurpassed.
Most will know him for his passion for Manchester United and loved nothing more than going over to see them play.
He was also a life long member of Clan na Gaael where he coached the U14 team to championship win and league win.

Hide AdIndeed Clan na Gael will be having a Guard of Honour for him at his funeral this morning.
Mr McConaghy died peacefully at his home in Downshire Avenue on June 4.
His funeral is today (Saturday) from his home at 10am for Requiem Mass at St Paul’s Chapel at 10,30am
Due to current circumstances the house and funeral are strictly private for immediate family only.
Interment afterwards in St Colman’s Cemetery.
