Coronavirus: Newtownabbey community spirit praised

Glengormley SDLP representative, Cllr Noreen McClelland has thanked residents across the borough for helping other members of the community during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued to the Times, Cllr McClelland said: “Over these last number of weeks I have been moved by the response of our community to come together at this difficult time in an effort to support one another.

“Though the situation has presented challenges that many of us have never faced before in our lifetime, it has also brought out the very best of our community and has certainly changed the culture of how we live and care for one another.

“The SDLP would like to thank key workers, from NHS staff to refuge collectors, for all your dedication to serving the public under very testing circumstances.

“Widespread social distancing in an effort to flatten the curve appears to be working and is saving lives. Together, we can beat this.”
