Victims remembered on 10th anniversary of Manx2 crash at Cork airport

Among the six people who lost their lives was Brendan McAleese, who owned the Central Laundries business in Cookstown.

The 39-year-old from County Antrim was married with a young family and a cousin of former Irish President Mary McAleese's husband Martin.

The plane from Belfast City Airport crashed in foggy conditions at Cork airport while making a third attempt to land on February 10, 2011.

In a Facebook post Cork Airport said: "Today is the 10th Anniversary of the Manx2 air accident when a flight from Belfast City Airport crashed on its third attempt to land at Cork Airport in foggy conditions. Six people sadly died. We will remember them at 09.50 this morning with a minute’s silence. May they rest in peace. Never forgotten."

The others who died were Pat Cullinan (45), from Omagh, a partner in KPMG in Belfast; Michael Evans (51), the deputy harbour master at Belfast Harbour; Belfast-based businessman Richard Noble (48); pilot Jordi Gola Lopez (31), from Spain, and co-pilot Andy Cantle (27), from England.

Six passengers survived the crash.
