Petition set up to save Phoenix ADHD

The online petition, set up just last week, will be presented to the The Northern Ireland Assembly.

Last week the Coleraine Times revealed that the service is to close at the end of the month.

Phoenix ADHD has provided a range of expert services for children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and vital support for their families since 2008.

This Firday night the Project is to stage a BIG THANK YOU BASH. The project will host the farewell event at its Ballycastle Road headquarters on Friday, April from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm. Anyone involved in the Project over the last eight years is invited to come along.

Operating as a charity Phoenix ADHD did not receive any public funding and relied on private sources of income to fund its specialist programmes and activities. A recent application for funding for the Project was unsuccessful and Phoenix will close at the end of the month.

The Project received over 500 referrals since it started and more than 300 children and young people and their families have received direct support.

Parents took to the Phoenix ADHD facebook page last week to express sadness at the loss of the service. Emma Barnett said: “ Such a massive loss to all the kids and parents involved.”
