Picture special: Firefighters share war memories in Cookstown

Firefighters from both sides of the border came to Cookstown to share memories of the Belfast Blitz during World War II.

The Peace III funded conference which was hosted by the NI Ex-Firefighters Mid-Ulster Association was held in the Glenavon House Hotel.

On display were some of the fire appliances that were in use during the Blitz and also in attendance were two exfirefighters in their 90’s who fought fires during this time.

This will be the biggest gathering of fire men ever seen in Cookstown. Ex-firefighters from Dublin, Wexford, Lough, Donegal, Cavan enjoyed the experience. Mr Ronan Kelly, former TV presenter was the Master of Ceremonies.
