POLICE are urging young people in the Dungannon area to act responsibly following a number of complaints that water balloons have been thrown at vehicles and pedestrians in the town.

Police say that, while in the right place and at the right time this activity can be fun, parents nevertheless need to explain to their children the real and obvious dangers associated with throwing water balloons at moving vehicles.

They also need to remind them that throwing water balloons at people could in certain circumstances be deemed to be an assault.

Local police say they are not against young people having fun but when their actions have the potential to cause hurt or injury, police cannot allow this to continue unchecked.
