Police issue security advice after burglaries

The Times understands a blue Ford Mondeo was reported as being driven suspiciously in the Woodcroft area of Ballymena at approximately midday yesterday (Thursday).

Commenting on the incident, a PSNI spokesperson said: “A male connected to this vehicle was spotted trying to get into the rear yard of a property. He made off when he was challenged.

“Police have been investigating recent burglaries in residential areas which have occurred during the day. It is not known if these two things are linked.”

Warning the public to be vigilant, the spokesperson added: “If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your area, contact police immediately. If possible, make a note of descriptions and vehicle details, or even use the camera on your phone to take a video or photos.

“Ensure your house is locked and secure, even if you are only nipping out for a short time. Burglars will take advantage of any lapse in security and will go for an easy target. Do not make your property an easy target.

“Keep an eye on your neighbours property too, and if you see anything out of place, contact us immediately. Police will be continuing to patrol residential areas, to keep people safe. Our best results come when the community helps us to help them.”
