Police in Cookstown and Magherafelt are warning locals to be wary of a parcel notice scam doing the rounds.

Letters have been sent out to some homes from a company apparently called “LSL” advising recipients they need to call “this office immediately” to claim their parcel.

And not unlike a normal delivery card, it states that the parcel contains jewellery and is worth £50.

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin first issued the warning on Twitter saying: “Look out for letters such as this one reported to @PSNILisburn today. It’s a scam, don’t be fooled! Please RT.”

If you have had a similar letter through your door, police are advising that you don’t call the number.

Some scammers make money from high cost telephone calls.
