UUP Cllr Trevor Wilson has described an attempt to intimidate Protestants visiting Cookstown’s new KFC as “despicable”.
And he has called on anyone who knows anything about the fake Facebook page, which appeared over the weekend, to help police find who’s responsible.
“KFC is a multinational company bringing much needed jobs to Cookstown,” he said, “and for people to target Protestants against this company in such a way is nothing more than sectarian.
“The threat raised major concerns amongst the Protestant community.
“People who try to impose their will on others by threats and violence have no place in our society,” he added.
KFC said: “KFC has no association whatsoever with this Facebook page, and we are investigating the circumstances with Facebook and the police.”
The page has since been removed from Facebook.
