Police reach out to parents over anti-social behaviour in Maghera

Aware of the distress this causing in the neighbourhood, Sgt Sam Young said: “We are aware of ongoing concerns regarding anti-social behaviour in the Crawfordsburn and Tamney Crescent area and will do our utmost to detect and deter this type of activity but those who are involved in this activity also have to understand the consequences of antisocial behaviour, the effect it can have on other people and how this and other criminal behaviour can affect their opportunities later on in life.

“Police would like to reassure the local community we are working to reduce anti-social behaviour and will exploit all opportunities to address these problems. We recognise this is an ongoing problem that requires a long term solution. We will continue to work with all our partners in the council and other agencies and community groups to address it.

“We would also ask parents to be aware of where their kids are gathering as many come from other neighbourhoods and are getting involved in anti-social behaviour, causing distress to local residents. Parents are asked to ensure their children are not involved in anti-social behaviour.

“Police need the help of the local community to identify who is responsible. Anyone who has any information regarding antisocial behaviour or criminal damage in the area is asked to contact police on 101.
