Politicians welcome GP move

The GP Out-of-Hours Service, which was based in the White House in Lagan Valley Hospital, moved on Tuesday November 24 to newly refurbished premises beside the current Emergency Eepartment. “This is a welcome step forward that should benefit patients,” said Mr Craig.

“This will promote closer collaboration to ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate service for their presenting condition.

“The GP Out-of-Hours Service will operate on Monday to Friday from 6pm to 8am, and open 24 hours at weekends and bank holidays.

“Patients must ring first to speak to a doctor for medical advice and priority will be given to those with the most urgent medical conditions.

“The closer working between GP Out-of-Hours and the Emergency Department will be mutually beneficial when both are operational, as patients can be directed to the most appropriate service for care and treatment of our patients.”

Lisburn Councillor John Palmer also welcomed the relocation.

“I am delighted that this move has been made and I am confident it will help to further improve the service provided to patients in the Lisburn area,” he said.

“A lot of hard work has gone into relocating the service and I know the Trust will continue the work to provide 24/7 access to the Lagan Valley Hospital.

“I am also pleased that a former Hillsborough doctor will be taking on the role of the new manager of the Out-of -Hours service at the Lagan Valley.”
