Ulster Unionist Party candidate in Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Rosemary Barton has joined with Councillor Robert Mulligan in welcoming the start of the scheme from Old Ballygawley Road to Frenchman’s Lane.

Mrs Barton said: “The residents of Castlecaufield have been voicing their concerns about the condition of the footpath and road surface leading from the village to Parkanaur Corner for some time and I welcome that works have now commenced.

“I understand from speaking to Transport NI, that kerbs will be replaced and the road will be resurfaced. This will greatly improve conditions for motorists and pedestrians alike who use this road on a daily basis. I trust other works at the bottom of Frenchman’s Lane will improve sight lines thus reducing the risk of any accidents.

“The footpath in question is very popular with walkers wishing to enter Parkanaur Forest Park and these improvements when complete should improve their experience.”
