Buildings light up for Fair Trade

Mid Ulster District Council’s civic buildings are to be lit up in May to mark Fair Trade Day.

The proposal was brought to Mid Ulster District Council by the Council Chair, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan and the proposal was seconded by SDLP group leader, Councillor Malachy Quinn.

” I received a letter today regarding Fair Trade Day which is on May 8,” said the Council Chair.

“The letter contains a request to light up our council buildings to celebrate Fair Trade Day and I would make the proposal to Council that we do so.”

The Council Chair also asked Council’s communications team to “do a bit of work at raising awareness around Fair Trade”.
