Project lined up for Wakehurst

A LOCAL councillor has welcomed a new document to inform Wakehurst residents of the latest alleygating developments.

Councillor Johnny McGibbon has welcomed the 'Alley-gating in Your Community' information document, by Craigavon Community Safety Partnership (CCSP).

The document, which householders should receive this week, will provide residents with general information regarding the Housing Executive scheme.

Councillor McGibbon has been involved in consultations with the Housing Executive on a scheme to close off alleyways in the Wakehurst area and it is expected that this project will be completed by the end of March.

He said: "I welcome the distribution of this information document and look forward to the completion of the scheme within the Wakehurst area.

"This project, which was taken up by Sinn Fein at the request of residents, will alleviate some of the antisocial problems that have plagued the area.

"I would urge the Housing Executive and CCSP, to pursue this scheme as a priority to ensure that it is completed on time by the end of March.”
